Laventura Viura

VARIETIES

Viura

ORIGIN

Villabuena

PRODUCTION

5.000 bottles

VINEYARD

It is made with grapes from vineyards in Villabuena (Rioja Alavesa), located at an altitude of over 500 metres at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria. They are exposed to the northern breeze and the gentle heat of the midday sun, which encourage the slow ripening of the grapes and therefore maintain all the freshness in the wine. Limestone soils, perfect for white wines. Wine aged in large barrels. It is an example of a fresh and elegant Viura elaboration.

TASTING NOTES

It has a lemon yellow colour with primary aromas of fruits such as apple, pear, lemon, lime, peach and apricot. At the right time, secondary aromas such as brioche and dried fruit appear due to the ageing on lees in the barrel for a year. On the palate it has a pleasant texture, good acidity, body and a pleasant and persistent finish.

Laventura Malvasía

VARIETIES

Malvasia

ORIGIN

Leza

PRODUCTION

750 bottles

VINEYARD

It is made from grapes known as Malvasia Riojana, from vineyards in Leza (Rioja Alavesa), located at an altitude of over 580 metres, also at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria, which is even closer to this mountain range. Its cool climate preserves the acidity of the grapes and allows them to reach their optimum degree of ripeness slowly. Prolonged maceration with its skins and ageing in egg-shaped cement tanks.

TASTING NOTES

It has a golden colour. On the nose, the floral aromas of honeysuckle dominate, with fruits such as gooseberries, lemon peel, apricot and hints of quince. Then secondary aromas appear such as butter, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg, due to the contact of the must with the lees and the oxidative ageing in concrete. Subtle presence of tertiary aromas such as honey and hay. On the palate it has a good texture with natural tannin provided exclusively by the grape. Good acidity, body and persistent finish.

Laventura Garnacha

VARIETIES

Garnacha

ORIGIN

Tudelilla

PRODUCTION

3.000 bottles

VINEYARD

It is made with grapes from vineyards in Tudelilla (Rioja Oriental) at an altitude of over 580 metres, which gently descend the southeast slope of the Sierra de La Hez. The Mediterranean climate that helps the garnacha to ripen, combined with the altitude and the stony, well-drained soils allows us to produce a complex but elegant garnacha. Wine aged in large barrels to preserve all its fruit.

TASTING NOTES

It has a pale ruby colour. On the nose, primary aromas of red fruits with blueberry, raspberry, strawberry and red cherry dominate. Secondary aromas from the ageing in oak for a year, such as spices, cinnamon and toast. The palate is light with soft and balanced tannins. Very good acidity, body and length.

Laventura Tempranillo

VARIETIES

Tempranillo

ORIGIN

Laguardia

PRODUCTION

4.040 bottles

VINEYARD

It is made with grapes from vineyards located in Laguardia, in the Rioja Alavesa, at an altitude of 520 metres, at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria. The freshness of the northern Atlantic climate blends with a warmer Mediterranean climate creating ideal conditions for red wines. Tempranillo grapes ripen easily and retain all their acidity and freshness thanks to their limestone soils. Matured in large barrels to maintain all the typical characteristics of the variety.

TASTING NOTES

It has a medium ruby colour. On the nose, primary aromas of fruit such as raspberries, redcurrants, red cherries, blackberries and plums dominate, and secondary aromas of oak, brioche and vanilla, due to the contact of the must with the lees and its ageing in the barrel.  On the palate it has a pleasant texture with natural grape tannins.

Wine from a Viñedo Singular of 1.3 hectares planted in 1935. With 28 fruit trees, 2 stone vineyards’ shelters and cultivated on terraces, the vineyard is a clear reflection of how grapes were grown in Rioja in the past. Vines grown on 4 terraces between 520 and 600 metres high, with a south-east slope at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria, between Laguardia and Elvillar, with 5,000 vines per hectare. As traditionally, it is worked by hand and with mules. The wine is aged for two years in the barrel and one year in the bottle. An iconic wine that reflects its origin and expresses the history and identity of Rioja.

TASTING NOTES

It has a medium ruby colour. On the nose predominate primary aromas of raspberries, cherries, brambles and blackcurrant; secondary aromas of brioche and toast and tertiary aromas of undergrowth, figs and earth. This wine expresses the typical soil and climate of Laguardia. The palate is fine with a pleasant texture and silky tannin. Good acidity, body and persistence in the mouth. Great ageing potential.
